Six accused has been convicted on monday for the rape and murder case in kathua in the year 2018 by the special court in pathankot. Sanji ram, parvesh kumar, deepak kajuria got life imprisonment. Sanji ram is a retired government official and priest of the temple where the crime took place, deepak kajuria is special police officer and parvesh kumar is sanji ram's nephew. Meanwhile surendra kumar (SPO), Tilak raj( head constable ) and anand dutta (SI) who got five years imprisonment for destroying the evidence.
One accused who is the son of sanji ram has been acquitted by the court who is not involved in this crime.
Judge tejwinder singh who read the verdict for over 14 months and culminated the case stating that six accused were guilty under different section,Sanju ram, deepak kajuria and parvesh kumar were declared guilty under the section 120B(criminal conspiracy), 302(murder),376/D(gang rape) 363 (kidnapping) 328 (sedating) 201(destroying evidence) 343 (wrong confinement) and they were fined one lakh rupees.
Judge Tejwinder singh added that the convict who found guilty will be in jain till thier life time and other three convict were sentenced five years for destroying the evidence and fined fifty thousand. Seventh accused has been acquitted by the court as the defence lawyer submitted the evidence that he was in meerut to appear for the examination.The parents of the victim welcomed the conviction still they expected capital punishment for their gruesome act . Still they expressed their dissatisfaction for the acquittal of seventh accused.
